About Dr. McCarty

Dr. McCarty was born and raised in Arkansas and after attending Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, he decided on medicine as a career. He earned his Doctorate degree in Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock prior to expanding his horizons on the east coast. He fell in love with Charleston and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was fortunate enough to be able to remain in Charleston for fellowship training in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at MUSC. Dr. McCarty joined Trident Cardiology Associates in 2011 after Dr. Von Lehe decided upon a long deserved retirement.

Dr. McCarty is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. He enjoys spending his free time hanging out with his dog Ozzie at Folly beach and golfing.
